Mark Busch has been a resident of Central Florida for 40 years, including the last 18 years in the City of Casselberry. He lives with his wife, Elizabeth, and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Lola and Reagan. Mark is a graduate of Bishop Moore High School in Orlando. He played collegiate basketball at Flagler College in St. Augustine and later graduated from Valencia College and the University of Central Florida with a degree in Biology. Mark is a small-business owner whose company focuses on providing services to the transportation industry, helping private and municipal fleets meet their environmental requirements. His work has taken him frequently to Washington, D.C., where he collaborated with industry stakeholders to help shape rules and regulations surrounding emerging technologies. His business has also been recognized by MetroPlan Orlando for its clean-air initiatives. Mark is completing his second term as a City of Casselberry Commissioner. He is also a former elected official, having served as Vice Chairman of the Orange County Soil & Water Conservation District. During his time in office, he helped Central Florida communities secure funding for the cleanup and preservation of freshwater canals, rivers, and lakes. Mark continues to us his experience with Central Florida's freshwater ecosystems to the growing need for clean, drinkable water while continuing to protect the natural treasures that make our region special, including the Triple Chain of Lakes. During Mark's time in office, Casselberry has overseen numerous utility network upgrades, the development of Complete Streets and Vision Zero mobility initiatives to make the city safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users, the construction of a new Public Works facility and police station, upgrades to five existing parks, and the creation of a new Wheel Park designed to promote mobility and recreation for all ages. These park improvements were made possible through a decisive citywide parks referendum approved by Casselberry residents. Under Commissioner Busch's tenure, the city also built the first nutrient-reduction facility of its kind in Seminole County. Located on Queens Mirror, the facility will reduce excess nutrients entering the lake system while also helping lower nutrient levels downstream throughout the St. Johns River Basin. Mark is seeking re-election to continue the momentum created by the City Commission. He is committed to building on the progress already underway, addressing the needs of Casselberry's residents, and working together to ensure the city remains a safe, vibrant, and forward-looking community for generations to come.
